Pakistan’s Tanvir tests positive for COVID-19

Sohail Tanvir

Sohail Tanvir, the Pakistani left-arm seamer contracted for Kandy Tuskers (KT), has tested COVID-19-positive after PCR reports were released yesterday.

Tanvir was one of the foreign players to be contracted by KT, and underwent the PCR test along with his teammates and officials. Only his report was found positive. As per team sources, he will be under a ten-day self-quarantine in his hotel in Hambantota and will likely miss at least three matches.

Earlier this week, KT had another major blow when their key playmaker Chris Gayle pulled out from the tournament due to a hamstring, and they are in consultation with the other listed players to finalise a replacement. He became the second overseas player to be shown COVID-19 positive after Ravindrapal Singh, the Canadian National contracted for Colombo Kings was detected positive for the same virus on Wednesday is under self-quarantine. - (AN)
