Nishon Perera

Former St. Peter’s College rugby Vice Captain, Sri Lanka under 20 player, Sri Lanka national seven a side and Sri Lanka national 15 a side centre three quarter Nishon Perera has decided to join Navy SC during the upcoming inter club rugby season.

Nishon was one of the prized products to come out of St. Peter’s College Bambalapitiya, winning the Inter-School Seven a side tournament as the Vice Captain while playing under Kevin Dixon as flanker, number eight and centre in 2015.

After leaving school Nishon joined Havelocks and CH and FC to improve his career in club rugby.

Nishon also had the honour of representing Sri Lanka Under-20 Sevens team at the Asian Championship, in which Sri Lanka ultimately won the Cup championship title for the first time in the island’s rugby history in 2016.

Later he also had the distinction of representing Sri Lanka national 15 a side team.

Speaking to the Daily News Nishon said, “it’s a real challenge, but I’m up for it. I wanted to thank my parents, all my family members and friends for the support given me to continue playing rugby in every way possible and I’m very much grateful to them. Now I will put all my effort and rally around with my Navy team mates to give off my very best for the Sailors to achieve success.”
