Mohammad Hafeez signs with Colombo Kings for LPL

Mohammad Hafeez

The Colombo Kings Franchise yesterday, announced the signing of former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez for the Lanka Premier League Twenty20 Tournament, which begins later this month in Hambantota.

The inclusion of Hafeez, should be a welcome boost for the Colombo Kings Team, which has been severely affected following the pull out of three of their key overseas players from the original playing squad.

Francois du Plessis (South Africa), Andre Russel (West Indies) and Manvinder Bisla (India) have already withdrawn from the squad due to personal commitments.

The 40-year-old veteran of 299 T20s will join a star-studded line-up headed by former Sri Lanka Captain, Angelo Mathews and Coached by Dav Whatmore.

Mohammad Hafeez will be in action on the opening day of the tournament, as Colombo Kings will take on Dambulla Hawks in the curtain raiser fixture on November 21 at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota.

Hafeez of course, is an active international cricketer and is one of the players who participated in the Sri Lanka Premier League in 2012 as well where he represented the Wayamba United Team.

The addition of Hafeez will be a great boost for the Colombo Kings as he is one of the top T20 all-rounders in the world with over 6,000 runs to his credit and having captured 177 wickets.

Hafeez is also one of the most experienced players in the shortest format of the game having represented Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League, Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League, Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League and St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots in the Caribbean Premier League.
