Sri Lankan Women’s Cricketer W. Kavisha Dilhari is the youngest Sri Lankan Women’s Cricketer and pride of her school Devapathiraja College, Ratgama being the first womens cricketer to represent the National team in the schools history.
Devapathiraja College Ratgama was established by Sir Earnest De Silva in 1920. Leather ball Girl’s Cricket was started at Devapathiraja College by Y. Nishantha Kumara master in charge of Cricket, Ranjan Lasantha De Silva head coach and Mahesh Sandaruwan de Silva assistant coach under the guidance . Bandula Jayasinghe principal of the school in 2011.
Seventeen year old Kavisha Dilhari created a record as the youngest schoolgirl cricketer to score a triple century at school level and also became the youngest player to represent Sri Lanka.
Kavisha first played netball in the school and played Softball Cricket in the inter house sports meet in the school in 2012. She was selected for the girl’s cricket team by Y. Nishantha Kumara, master in charge of Cricket and Ranjan Lasantha De Silva boy’s Cricket coach and Mahesh Sandaruwan De Silva assistant coach. Finally she gave up Netball and continued to play Cricket.
Kavisha played leather ball Cricket and participated in the schools under 19 tournament in 2014. Her team was runner up and she was adjudged player of the tournament in 2014 under coach Mahesh Sandaruwan De SIlva. She represented the school under 17 team in the inaugural inter school tournament in 2015. in which Devapathiraja emerged champions and Kavisha was adjudged best batswoman of the tournament. Kavisha represented the school under 19 team in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Kavisha Dilharis contribution has been the cornerstone of the Devapathiraja College Ratgama emerging champions in the All-Island Girls’ Schools Cricket Championship for five consecutive years in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019.
An outstanding all-round cricketer, she scored a triple century (353) against Dharmapala College Pannipitiya, which included 40 towering sixes. She ended the 2018 season scoring over 700 runs as a right-hand batter, while capturing nearly 40 wickets as a right arm off-spinner. She was the first womens cricketer to score a triple century in Sri Lanka.
She was selected to the National women’s squad in 2017. and toured Thailand with Sri Lanka Women’s emerging team in 2017. She was picked as the best bowler of the tournament. She won her National cap in 2018 against Pakistan women’s team as a 17 year old school girl. Kaveesha Dilhari bagged the Best Batswoman title in the Mobitel - Sunday Observer Schools Cricket awards in 2018.
Kavisha represented the Seenigama Ladies team in the SLC Women’s division two tournament. She was adjudged the best batswoman in the division two tournament in 2017, and led the Seenigama ladies team in the same tournament in 2018. She was picked as the best bowler in 2018 and best player of the tournament in 2019.
Kavisha represented Sri Lanka Women’s team against India in 2019 and represented the national team in the T20 Women’s World Cup at West Indies in 2019. She represented the National team on the South Africa tour and T20 World cup at Australia in 2020. She represented Sri Lanka under 23 team in the South Asian Games at Nepal in 2019. Nineteen year old Kavisha has played four Women’s ODI matches and ten T20 matches so far.
