Andre Russell powers Colombo to big win over Galle

Colombo Kings celebrate their win.

West Indies all-rounder, Andre Russell hammered a 14-ball half century as the Colombo Kings cruised to a convincing 34-run victory over the Galle Gladiators in their rain-curtailed Lanka Premier League (LPL) T20 Cricket Tournament match played under lights at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Stadium in Hambantota on Saturday.

The 32-year-old dashing right-hand opening batsman plundered an unbeaten 65 from 19 deliveries inclusive of four sixes and nine boundaries as the Kings piled up an imposing 96 for one from their restricted five over.

In reply, the Gladiators could manage only 62 for two from their five overs with Danushka Gunathilaka stroking an unbeaten 30 with two sixes and two boundaries.

Ashan Priyanjan bowled a crucial third over of the innings for the Kings while conceding just a couple of runs and ended-up claiming a wicket.
