Isiri Umayangana Meegammana, the present Cricket Captain of Mahamaya Girls College,Kandy is a fine all-rounder and she started playing Cricket in the year 2017 at the age of 13 years. In a match against Palinks Cricket Club, Colombo in the year 2019 she captured 3 wickets for 11 runs to enable her team to win the game. In that particular match she was selected as the Best Bowler and in the year 2018 she showed her class as a batswoman when she had a partnership with Udara Bandara against Anula Vidyalaya,Colombo and Isiri’s contribution was 32 runs and she was awarded Cricket colours in the year 2019.In another partnership with Thamara Bandara against Gothami Balika, Kandy her contribution towards the team was 35 runs and their partnership was 65 runs for the 5th wicket.

Isiri’s all-round performance helped Mahamaya Cricket team to become one of the Best Eight Teams in the Division II Cricket tournament conducted by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association in the Women’s Section. In the year 2020 in the Girls Cricket tournament she captured 3 for 30 in the match against St.Anthonys’ Girls School,Katugastota. With these all-round performances she was selected for the Kandy District under 23 Women’s Cricket team.

She is thankful to her Coaches, Upananda Jayasundera and E.M.U. Chandrathilak and to the past Principal Indra Withanachchi and present Principal Lalitha Egodawela and Teachers-in-charge, Bagya Devapriya and J.Jayakody.
