First eleven player, all rounder, right hand bat, right arm medium pace bowler, good fielder in any position and the chief architect who guided Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya, Padukka to enter the Quarter Finals of the two day tournament Wanniarachchikge Don Manidu Shamal scored a chanceless century against formidable Piliyandala Central College. How ever this tournament could not proceed due to the prevailing situation in the country.
Manidu was selected to the first eleven cricket team of Siri Piyarathana in his second year in the under 17 in 2019/20 and in his first year in the under 17 he passed the 600 run mark with two centuries and two half centuries and in 2017/18 cricket season he got 420 runs with a fifty. Playing in the 2019/20 first eleven cricket season he passed the 600 run mark again with a century and three fifties.
He commenced his cricket career at Subharathie Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Godagama and his coach was Ajith Priyankara and his first year in the under 13 in 2012/13 he scored 620 runs with three centuries and two fifties. with the top score of 130 runs versus Sunandopananda Vidyalaya and claimed 30 wickets. In his second year he passed the 500 run mark with two fifties and in his last year in the under 13 in 2014/15 he scored 710 runs with four centuries and once again his top score was against Sunandopananda Vidyalaya with 132 runs and captured 25 wickets. In the under 15 first year he scored 540 runs which consisted of two centuries and two fifties. In his second year he could not participate in the tournament due to an injury. His Principal was Saman Manjula and Master In charge was Mr. Bandara. In the Schools Colours Nite in 2014 he carried away the Best Batsman’s Award.
He joined Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya in 2017 and his coach was Hiran Gunawardene and the Principal and Master in Charge were.
Nihal Pathmasiri and Shammi Thushara respectively. In his first year itself playing for under 19 he passed the 600 run mark with a century against Piliyandala Central in the pre quarter match and collected three half centuries. Unfortunately he missed his first Limited Over Match and the Big Match this season against their arch rivals Royal College, Panadura.
