Udaya and Hansani most outstanding players

Udaya Ranasinghe and Hansani Piyumali were adjudged most outstanding players at the 73rd National Table Tennis Championships which concluded at the S. Thomas Gymnasium recently . Ranasinghe from Vidyartha Old Boys TT Club won the men's open singles , men's open doubles and mixed doubles titles to gain this major award while Piyumali of Sri Lanka Navy who won

the women's open singles after a hard fought game over Jithara Warnakulasuriya at the finals to take this award.

This was the major tournament of the annual TT calendar and 227 paddlers were in action for the events of Men’s Singles, Women’s singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles and consolation Men and Women events. .The Secretary-Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs K.D.S Ruwanchandra was the Chief Guest at the awards ceremony

Women’s Singles - Hansani Piumila Kapugeekiyana of Sri Lanka Navy beat Jithara Warnakulasuriya of Ladies College – Colombo - 11/6, 11/9, 11/9, 8/11, 8/11, 11/ 9

Men’s Doubles -Udaya Ransinghe of Vidyartha College Old boys TT Club and Nirmala Jayasinghe of MAS Intimates beat Rohan Sirisena ( STAG Table Tennis Academy) and Chameera Ginige ( University of Sri Jayewardenepura ) 11/ 5 , 13/ 11, 6/ 11 16/ 14

Women’s Doubles - Ishara Madurangi (Sri Lanka Ports Authority ) and Nuwani Nawodya of Sri Lanka Army beat Bimandi Bandara ( Hillwood College – Kandy) and Ayla Chitty ( Ladies College – Colombo) 5/11, 11/7 ,11/7, 4/11,11/6

Mixed Doubles - Udya Ranasinghe (Vidyartha Old Boys TT Club) and Bimandi Bandara (Hillwood College Kandy } beat Sajith Kavinda and Nuwani Navodya of Sri Lanka Army - 11/7, 11/9.11/8

Consolation Men’s Singles - Vinuka Gunawardena of Royal College –Colombo beat Kasun Nilanga of Sri Lanka Army - 11/08, 11/05

Consolation Women’s Singles - Sandinthie Jayasinghe ( Musaeus College –Colombo) beat Tharidi Thamasha of Vihara Maha Devi B.M.V – Kiribathgoda - 11/04, 11/09
