MCA ‘E’ division 25-over League commences today

The second longest running MCA partnership - the 18th David Pieris Group of Companies powered, MCA ‘E’ division 25 over League Tournament 2020 contested for the glittering ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy will commence on Feb. 22 and 23.

The following 24 participating teams, pooled into 4 groups are vying for the ‘DPGC’ Challenge Trophy.

l Group ‘A’: Amana Bank PLC, Standard Chartered Bank, LOLC, Allianz Insurance, Virtusa and Ceylon Tobacco.

l Group ‘B’: AIA Insurance, Eagle Logistics, 3DH International, Arpico SC, Emerchemie NB and Stafford Motor Co.

lGroup ‘C’: UB Finance, Brandix Essentials ‘B’, MAS Active, Ceylinco Insurance, Trelleborg Lanka and Lion Brewery.

l Group ‘D’: Softlogic Finance, Commercial Leasing Co. , Akbar Brothers, Fairfirst Insurance, HSBC ‘A’ and Prym Intimates.

In the previous year’s final, Nawaloka Hospitals PLC beat Maliban Biscuits by 8 runs. The group stage of the tournament, consisting 60 half day matches, is scheduled to be held from February 22 to March 22.

The selected venues are MCA grounds, Thurstan College, St. Joseph’s College, Army grounds at Mattegoda and D.S. Senanayake College Grounds.

The full tournament will be covered by a MCA appointed Match Referee and the D&L method will be used for all matches in order to arrive at a result for interrupted matches.

The officiating umpires will be assigned from the Association of Professional Cricket Umpires, Sri Lanka (PCU) and the officiating scorers will be assigned by Sri Lanka Cricket Scorers.

The four DPGC special awards on offer are ‘the Best Batsman’, ‘the Best Bowler’, ‘Man of the Series’ and ‘Man of the Final’.

The league will have it’s ‘Knock-Out’ stage, with 15 matches. The Pre-Quarter finals are scheduled for March 28, 29, the Quarterfinals on April 4, the semifinals on April 7 and the final on April 18 at the MCA Grounds.

At the sponsorship presentation ceremony David Pieris Group of Companies were represented by their Executive Director/ DPMC, Romani Parakrama, CEO, Naresh Tillekaratne and Chief Operations Officer, Mahesh de Silva, both from Assetline Leasing Co. Ltd. and Divisional Manager, Vehicle Sales / DPMC Lakmal de Silva. The MCA was represented by President, Rohana Dissanayake, Senior Vice President Nalin Wickremasinghe, and General Secretary, Sirosha Gunatillake.
