Sri Lanka brimming with confidence

The Sri Lanka test cricket team led by Dimuth Karunaratne will be brimming with confidence when they confront Pakistan in a two test series in Pakistan starting with the first test in Rawalpindi on December 11. The Lanka team left on Saturday.

Sri Lanka skipper Dimuth Karunaratne who will be touring Pakistan for the first time said that Sri Lanka team had trained hard under the watchful eyes of newly appointed coach Mickey Arthur during the last few days and they are confident of beating Pakistan on their own soil having got the better of them in the last series played in UAE by two nil.

Sri Lanka will be at full strength with the return of experienced campaigners Dinesh Chandimal, Angelo Mathews, Kusal Mendis, Kusal Janith Perera and wicket keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella who should pile up the runs for the visitors.

With the seasoned Sruanga Lakmal having pulled out of the team due to Dengue Fever Lanka pace attack will be spearheaded by Nuwan Pradeep and Lahiru Kumara while the spin attack will be led by Akila Dananjaya who will be supported by off spinner Dilruwan Perera and left arm legs spinner Lasith Embuldeniya.

Pakistan led by Azhar Ali will be determined to bounce back after their 0-2 series defeat by Australia.

The Pakistan batting will be spearheaded by Babar Azam who had a wonderful series in Australia in addition to Inam ul Haq, Asad Shafiq, Haris Sohail, Mohamed Rizwan and skipper Azhar Ali who are likely to help Pakistan to put up big totals in the two test matches Spinner Yasir Shah is the key bowler for Pakistan and should cause problems for the Lankan batsmen.
