Malays sparkle to win Cup at WPRFU 7s

Malay Sports Club continued their rise in the domestic rugby circuit by emerging Cup champions in the Development segment of the Western Province Rugby Football Union (WPRFU) Sevens Rugby tournament held at St. Peter’s College, Bambalapitiya grounds.

The Malays coached by Amjad Buksh beat Petersons 26-0 in the final with Danister Gunathillake bagging the Most Outstanding Player award.

The Open Cup final was won by Navy Sea Lions with Gayan Anuruddha being adjudged most outstanding player.

Piliyandala Central College defeated All Saints Borella in the WPRFU Women’s Tag Rugby final with Ruwangi Nimasara of Piliyandala Central College being adjudged the most outstanding player.

Chairman Development of Sri Lanka Rugby Fazal Mohamed and Chairman Development WPRFU Shamrath Fernando gave away the awards.
