The 46th Sri Lanka Schools’ Swimming and Diving Championship will commence today at the Sugathadasa Swimming Complex and will continue until September 8. The five-day event is considered the most prominent water sport event in the school fraternity and will line up most of the top school swimmers and divers to compete. There will be age category swimming events for boys and girls in under-10, U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18 and U-20. The 46th edition of the high profile event is organized by the Sri Lanka Schools’ Water Sports Association and sponsored by the Nestle Lanka’s nutrition supplement, ‘Milo’.
There will be 164 swimming events where over 5000 girls and boys are expected to participate.
The diving events will have five age categories, namely U-12, U-14, U-16, U-18 and U-20. Altogether 36 diving events are on the cards. The closing ceremony will be held on September 8 at 3.30PM with the Education Ministry’s secretary M. N. Ranasinghe as the chief guest.
