Moratu Vidyalaya one of the leading cricket playing schools in division one which has produced cricketers of the calibre of Ajantha Mendis, Nisha Madushka, Sanka Ramesh, Lucky Rogers, Chandana Mahesh, Athula Wickramatilleke, Gamini Perera, Suminda Priyankara to mention a few will be captained by sixth year player and wicket keeper middle order left hand bat Madushan Dilakshana Ferdinando and his deputy will be Roshan Kavishka and they are coached by old vidyalian Prasanna Dissanayake and the master in charge is Rasika Chaminda under the guidance of the Principal Hemasiri Athaudage.
This season they are down to play fifteen matches excluding the big match with their arch rivals Sri Sumangala Collage Panadura.
Already they have, played their first game against St. Anthony’s College Wattala which ended in a draw.
Madushan’s first year in the first eleven team was in 2014/15 and scored 248 runs and followed with 272 runs in 2016 and 348 in 2017 and 411 in 2018 and last year 480 runs with three fifties and a century versus Zahira College Colombo. Also he collected 33 victims behind the stumps. He has already played in five big matches and four limited over matches against Sumangalians and last year he got a fifty in the Big Match.
This year he was selected for the Colombo district squad and played for the Old Moratu Vidyalians Sports Club in the under 23 tournament. He has the distintion of leading this alma mater in the under 13,1517 an 19 teams.
