CCC School of Cricket, founded by legendry cricket coach Nelson Mendis celebrated the 21st anniversary with the Inter-House Cricket Tournament, spread over two days, held on their home grounds at Maitland Place.
Jayawardena House won the Overall Championship beating Bradman House, while Sobers House and Tendulkar House were placed third and fourth respectively.
Erandajith Ranasinghe, Executiv Director of George Steuart Health who are the main sponsors was the chief guest on the occasion. Ranasinghe, an old Thomian sportsman who excelled in soccer and swimming, addressing the gathering complimented the school’s Executive Committee, coaches and students for their achievements during past twenty one years and sportive spirit which they maintained throughout long years, had helped them to become the best coaching school in the country.
Nelson Mendis, the Director of Coaching, CCC School of Cricket speaking at the event thanked the Parents of the School, who had always stood by the school supporting the students and coaches in all its activities, and said that the School’s success is mainly due to their support. Two former Sri Lanka legends, Thilakaratne Dilshan, a former captain, and Ajantha Mendis the mystery spinner were present during the tournament mixing with the young cricketers.
