Former Cambrian and Sri Lanka Cricketer Stanley de Alwis dies

Former Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa Cricket, Athletic and soccer Captain and Moratuwa Sports Club, Singhalese Sports Club, Prison Department, Government Services, People’s Bank, Nationalized Services and Sri Lanka Cricketer Stanley de Alwis died at the age of 83 years after a brief illness.

A fiery right arm fast bowler Stanley captained Prince of Wales in 1955 and joined the Singhalese Sports Club in 1956 and went on to represent Sri Lanka against MCC, Australia, Pakistan and in the Gopalan Trophy match against Tamil Nadu

His remains lie at Barney Raymond Funeral Parlour, Borella and the funeral will take place on September 2 (Monday) at General Cemetery Borella at 5.00 p.m. after service at 4.00 p.m.
