Afghanistan U19 secure first win after Pakistan U19 collapse for 78

Pakistan U19 suffered a dramatic collapse losing four wickets within a span of four overs to be bowled out for 78 chasing a total of 162, as Afghanistan U19 secured their first win of the ACC U19 Asia Cup 2019 by 85 runs the P Sara Oval yesterday.

Shafiqullah Ghafari stood out with the ball with a three-for and was adjudged player of the match. Noor Ahmad Lakanwal scalped the big wicket of Pakistan U19 skipper Rohail Nazir for 16.

Abidullah Taniwal provided Afghanistan with a double break through, removing both openers Abdul Bangalzai (2) and Haider Ali (8).

Pakistan captain Rohail Nazir chose to bowl first.

A double strike by the leggie Fahad Munir reduced Afghanistan to 106 for 5 at the end of 32 overs.

Aamir Ali picked up the first wicket of skipper Farhan Zakhil breaking the 47-run opening stand with batsman Sediqullah Atal (29).

Pakistan pacer Abbas Afridi struck twice in the same over of Afghanistan’s innings dismissing Sediqullah Atal who top scored with 29 runs off 42 deliveries and then had Nangeyalia Kharote.

Afghanistan made 162 for nine wickets thanks to the resistance shown by the Afghanistan’s tail as they managed to add on some valuable runs to the total. Noor Ahmad Lakanwal and Abidullah Taniwal added 34 valuable runs for the final wicket.
