Palinks take on Mahamaya for Palitha Gunasekera Trophy

The annual 30-over cricket match between Palinks School of Cricket, Colombo and Mahamaya Girls School, Kandy will be played for the Palitha Gunasekera Trophy today at Salika Grounds, Colombo.

The challenge shield is named after Palitha Gunasekera, an Old Anandian cricketer who toured Pakistan under D.H.de Silva who captained the Board XI in the year 1971. The other team members were Aubrey Kuruppu, T.B. Kehelgamuwa, Franklyn Burke and Daya Sahabandu to name a few. Palitha Gunasekera is a veteran cricket coach as well.

Mahamaya Girls – Udeshika Madumali (captain), Isiri Meegammana (vice captain), Himashi Kodituwakku, Wasana Rasangi, Salila Lakshani, Sithumini Abeykoon, Oshadi Wimalawansa, Sayuni Premaratne, Danushika Bandara, Sasini Wandana, Sulari Godakanda, and Yasara Pitawela.

Palinks SC – Harshani Gunawardena (captain), Malsha Ranatunge (vice captain), Imasha Tharuni, Kasini de Silva, Rashmi Ranasinghe, Thilakshi Chanchala, Kaumini Dileka, Waruni Subasinghe, Kavindi Rajapakshe, Keshani Athulathmudali, Dimuthu Wijesekera, Herath Dinushika and Dilanka Upamali.
