The bus that was carrying the touring New Zealand cricket team to Pallekele from Colombo on Thursday afternoon broke down at Kadugannawa and the tourists had to board the backup bus that was following and continue their journey to their hotel.
Sri Lanka Cricket sources stated that the tourist’s bus had a problem with the clutch plate and there was only a small delay as the players and officials were transferred to the backup bus. The team eventually reached their destination by Thursday evening.
The liaison officer attached to the New Zealand team however was not travelling with the cricketers and officials. He was travelling to Pallekele in his private vehicle.
New Zealand will play Sri Lanka in a series of three T20 internationals at Pallekele commencing September 1.
