The first ever 50 over Inter Academy Cricket tournament is being organised by the Colombo Premier Cricket Foundation with the participation of all leading cricket academies incuding CCC, MCA, SSC, Colombo Premier, SA, Swingers, Colts, Bloomfield, Oval, Champ and Headway Negombo.
In the first round 16 teams were grouped into 4 and played the round robin matches. CCC Maroon, MCA, Sa Blue, and CPCF Blue remained unbeaten and entered the quarter finals along with CPCF Yellow, Oval and Headway. There were some close encounters with some brilliant performances by the young cricketers, centuries by Akinda Weerasooriya of CPCF, Nathan Kaldera of MCA, Shalaka Randiligama of Colts and excellent bowling performance of capturing 5 wickets by Chalika Pathirage of Oval and Sonal Nethmina of Headway CA and Virosh Wijesinghe of CPCF yellow.
The semi finals are scheduled to played on the 24th followed by the third place and the finals on the 25th at D. S. Senanayake College Grounds.
