Second seed Chathurya Nilaweera of Stafford International College will take on top seed Thehan Wijemanne of Royal College, Colombo in the boys’ under-16 singles final of the 104th National Tennis Championship today at the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) hard courts.
Chathurya overcame Zaidh Zihar 7/5, 6/0 in the semifinals and went on to beat Wenuka Kithnula 6/2, 6/0 in the quarters. He defeated V. Ramanayake 6/1,6/1 in the third round and had the better of Dulina Kumarasinghe 6/1, 6/0 in the second round.
Thehan had no trouble in beating Dilvan Herath 6/1, 6/1 in the semis and edged out Hasal Ahangama 6/1, 6/3 in quarters. Thehan tamed W. Silva 6/2, 6/2 in the third round and beat Talal Sabry 6/2, 6/4 in the second round.
