Bandara’s gritty half-century keeps Lanka Emerging afloat

Ashen Bandara scored a gritty unbeaten half-century to keep Sri Lanka Emerging Team’s first innings afloat on a rain-restricted third day of the first 4-day unofficial test played at Khulna in Bangladesh yesterday.

Resuming from their overnight total of 101-4 Sri Lanka reached 190-6 by the close in reply to Bangladesh’s first innings total of 360.

Bandara and his overnight partner Promod Maduwantha carried their fifth wicket partnership to 82 before Maduwantha was dismissed for a well played 40 scored off 136 balls (3 fours).

Bandara defied the Bangladesh bowlers to remain unbeaten on 57 at the close having scored five fours in his 208 balls innings.

The match enters its fourth and final day today.
