Anika and Alana Seneviratne reign supreme to clinch fourth doubles title

Anika and Alana Seneviratne bask in doubles glory.

Sisters Anika and Alana Seneviratne retained their Women’s Doubles Hard Court title at the 104th National Tennis Championships defeating Anjalika Kurera and Rukshika Wijesooriya 6/0 7/6 (8/6) with a solid display of power hitting.

The first set was over in 25 minutes but in the second set their opponents put on a better display to take the set to a tie breaker and also saved five match points in the process.

In the final rounds, the defending champions had little opposition with wins against Janali Manamperi and Oshini Herath 6/3 6/2 (quarterfinal) and sisters Senuri and T Alexander 6/1 6/1. Anjalika and Rukshika beat Yasodara Koralege and Shehara Medawela 6/0 6/ 0 before wining a tense semi final against Nehara Weerawansa and Hasini Lokuge 6/3 3/6 10/8.
