16 teams advance to pre-quarterfinal round

Sixteen teams advanced to the pre-quarterfinal round of the Singer Trophy Under 17 division one inter-school cricket tournament.

Seventy-four teams participated in 14 groups in the first round. Thirty two teams drawn into eight groups played on a league basis. The champions and runner-up teams in each group number 16 qualified to the pre-quarterfinal round.

Prince of Wales College, Moratuwa, St. Sylvester's College, Kandy, De Mazenod College, Kandana, Royal College, Colombo, last year’s runner-up St. Sebastian's College, Moratuwa, Trinity College, Kandy, S. Thomas' College, Mt. Lavinia, and defending champions St. Joseph's College, Colombo advanced to the pre-quarterfinal round as group champions in the second round.

St. Thomas College, Matara, Kalutara Vidyalaya, Mahinda College, Galle, Thurstan College, Colombo, St. Anthony's College, Kandy, Mahanama College, Colombo, D.S. Senanayake College, Colombo, and Nalanda College, Colombo, advanced to the pre-quarterfinal round as runner-up teams in the group in the second round.

This tournament is conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association with Singer Sri Lanka PLC.
