Antonians edge out Rajans

In the Kandy’s first inter school Plate rugby tournament match St. Anthony’s College won a good game of close rugby, on Friday with a 24 points to-21 victory over Dharmaraja College at Nittawela. St Anthony’s dedicated the win with a penalty to those who were hunting for a game of rugby, which was held up due to the unnecessary happening in the country.

The winners 24 points were off three goals and a penalty to losers 21 off three goals at half time the score board read 14-7 in favour of the Antonians. It’s great was great to have played this match for the people of Kandy who were without sports. So, this game over here in Kandy we’ve talked about it all week - what we could do to lift the worries and stresses people are having in their lives - and I thought the players did admirably this weekend.

Both schools raised spirits back at home and presented good rugby and both teams were on full-strength and had looked a serious threat to each other with their hardy rugby. In the second half , at one time scores were 14 all and the Rajans with a good move went over for a try which was disallowed

Referee - Suranga Arunashantha Today at the same venue at Nittawela, Vidyatha College will host Zahira College
