Havelocks SC will host defending champions Kandy SC at the Havelock Park at 4.00 pm the starting time being brought forward from 6.30 pm because of problems with the lights. A much-changed Kandy SC side will be hunting for victory, which will help them to finish on top of the league standings. Similarly Havelocks SC too are in with a chance, if they win this encounter to become table leaders. Last week, it was an unfamiliar story for Havelock SC as they slumped to a 33-40 defeat to CH & FC while Kandy SC managed to defeat CR & FC 31-26. Out of 13 games played both sides have lost two games and only one point separate them (67 to Kandy SC and 66 to Havelocks). Kandy SC and Havelock SC are expected to present a thrilling finish to the second leg of the Dialog league championships. The winner of this show down qualifies as the league champions and the loser will be the number two. These two sides faced off in the first leg of the league at Nittawela and Kandy SC won 38-28. Head-to-head: The battle between the two number eights, scrum halves, fly-half’s and fullbacks will be interesting as both the sides play crucial roles for their respective sides. All of them are impressive with ball in hand and will be expected to get their teams over the advantage line with some strong rugby. Prediction: There's little separating these sides and it's difficult to predict a winner as both sides reached peak performance a few weeks ago and are now on the decline. But home ground advantage could swing things. The match will be controlled by Japan’s Tasuku Kawahara, who is a member of the National Referees and Asian Panel.

TT tournament not properly organized
A disorganized all-island Cup Ranking T/T tournament took place at the KMC indoor stadium at Katukelle on 1 to 3 of this month. It was organized by the TT governing body with the support from playground departments. It was named the all island mayor’s trophy, but we don’t know which mayor it was named after? The participants presented good TT but the organizing part was a mess. Some of the match officials were not given their meals in time, and they had not performed their duties properly. This happens when organizers are only interested in themselves. Who is to blame?

It was good to hear Ranatunga coming out with a proposal to develop the game of cricket at school, club, district and international level. Today school cricket is flourishing in Kandy, but at club cricket is not with no tournaments, or a single club from Kandy taking part in the major club tournaments. The KDCA president has decided to attend the AGM with his secretary.
