Dr. Nimal Lucas won 7 gold medals and 3 silver medals in table tennis at the New Zealand Masters Games held in Whanganui from February 4 to 10. Dr. Lucas won the over 75, 70 and 65 men's singles titles respectively and men's doubles partnered by Robert Dunn in the over 75 70 and age categories. He was the sole participant from Sri Lanka as he partnered with New Zealand players in the doubles and team events.
Results:
Over 55 team event: Dr. Lucas (partnered by Robert Dunn) won a silver medal.
Over 70 team event: Dr. Lucas (partnered by Malcolm Campion) won a silver medal.
Over 75 individual events: Dr. Lucas won gold medals in the Men’s Singles and Men’s Doubles (partnered by Robert Dunn).
Over 70 individual events: Dr. Lucas won gold medals in the Men’s Singles, Men’s Doubles (partnered by Robert Dunn) and Mixed Doubles (partnered by Trish Sinkinson).
Over 65 individual events: Dr. Lucas won a gold medal in the Men’s Singles and a silver medal in the Mixed Doubles (partnered by Julie Midgely).
Over 55 individual events: Dr. Lucas won a gold medal in the Mixed Doubles (partnered by Leigh Grinlinton).
