Sri Lankan sports teams to tour Switzerland

Chief-Coordinator Isabelle Oetliker

The Asian German Sports Exchange Programme which was launched in 1989 will embark on a new venture this year by organising sports tours to Switzerland by Sri Lankan sports teams.

To mark the 30th anniversary of AGSEP Sri Lankan table tennis, badminton, soccer, handball and hockey teams will tour Switzerland and play against teams from Bern, Zurich, Geneva, Lausanne and Basel which would give them the much needed foreign exposure.

It will be followed by reciprocal visits to Sri Lanka by Swiss badminton, table tennis, soccer, handball and hockey teams who will play against Sri Lankan teams. The Swiss teams will be accompanied by family members and friends when they tour Sri Lanka which would help to promote Sri Lanka as a tourist destination. An undergraduate of the University of Bern Isabelle Oetliker of Switzerland who is in Sri Lanka as a student volunteer of AGSEP is the Chief-Coordinator of the tours and is taking great pains to make the sports tours a success.
