Chitra House collected a total of 456 points and won the Overall Athletic Championship Cup at the annual inter-house sports meet of Sri Sumangala Balika National School, Panadura, held at the college playground, recently.
Maya House with 388 points won the overall runner-up cup. Sumithra House with 346 points, was placed third and the fourth place was received by Anula House with 291 points.
The chief guest at the event was Sri Lanka Women’s Cricketer Chief/Co-ordinator Mrs Apsari Tillakaratne and the Kalutara Zonal Director of Education Mrs O M V Priyani Mudalige and the Panadura Divisional Director of Education M N H Thilak de Silva graced the occasion.
Principals of Wadduwa Central College, St. John’s College, Panadura Royal College, Panadura, Mahanama MV and several other school representatives too were in attendance.
Six best athletes were awarded championship cups for their achievements displayed at the sports meet.
A Induni Upnya de Silva (under 12) of Chitra House, I A D Nilumi Pambasara (under 14) of Maya House, K A Benuli Pasodara (under 16) and Nisuli Sasvindi (under 16) of Sumithra House, G A Vibhathi Fernando (under 18) of Chitra House and D A Amandi Malneththi Wijesekara (College’s Vice Captain of Sports) were felicitated and awarded cups.
Mrs Devika Gunasekara, Mrs M A Hasara Savindi Parakrama, Mrs Nalini Alwis and Mrs Chandrika Suriyarachchi organized the Sports Festival under the direction and instructions of its Principal Mrs A D D S Nepala.
Championship and Runner-up Cups for the best houses were distributed by the chief guest Mrs Apsari Tillakaratne with the Principal Mrs Nepala.
