SSC, Saracens SC victorious

SSC and Saracens CC won their matches against Army CC and NCC respectively in the second weekend of the ongoing SLC Major League Tier ‘A’ Inter Club Super 8 tournament yesterday.

SSC beat Army CC by 9 wickets at CCC and Saracens CC beat NCC by 6 wickets at Colts. All the other matches ended in draws.

Oshada Fernando of Chilaw Marians CC passed 1000 runs for the season while scoring a double century against Colts CC - 234 off 209 balls with 17 sixes and 11 fours to follow his first innings score of 109 runs at the NCC grounds. The right hander has scored 1121 runs in 8 matches.

Former Sri Lanka left-arm spinner Rangana Herath took 5 for 71 to bowl Tamil Union to a first innings win over CCC.
