Sports Ministry requests Netball Federation to hold AGM

The Minister of Sports has requested the Sri Lanka Netball Federation (SLNF) to conduct their annual general meeting and to setup an election committee before February 10.

The meeting between Ministry of Sports and SLNF on Tuesday was headed by the Ministry secretary Chulanada Perera.

Speaking at the meeting Chulanda requested current administrator of SLNF to set up the election committee before February 10 by calling a special general meeting.

According to Chulananda he stressed that elections must be conducted according to the constitution.

At the meeting a majority of districts clubs participated and most of them agreed to the decisions taken by the Secretary.

Speaking to the Daily News former coach Hyacinth Wijeyasinghe said there are no barriers to conduct the election but the current president purposely postponed it for her personnel benefits.

“If she had worked properly and democratically district clubs would have definitely re-elected her but she never did anything,” she said.
