Kandy SC to ‘arrest’ the cops today?

Kandy Sports Club who are still smarting from last Saturday’s defeat to Army Sports Club, their first loss of the ongoing ‘A’ division rugby league season apparently due to referee’s errors will shed the memories of it when they take on Police SC at Bambalapitiya in a second round game today. Sri Lanka rugby has a problem. It's serious and it needs to be addressed. Too many big games are being compromised by poor refereeing. Reports reaching us say the cops are sparing no pains and efforts to play a good game in their own soil and if possible slap a second defeat on Kandy SC. Tough Kandy SC lost their last game due to a referee’s error. Kandy SC has all the weapons to get off to a good start in this game forgetting that hiccup against Army. They started the season in good form and are fit and ready to display with the star players. Kandy SC are always difficult to beat at Nittawela and last lost after a 36-winning spree at this venue. Fitness has been Kandy SC’s forte this season. Today Police will work up-front and will be at their best, and they will try to address the opponents in the same manner. Their forwards are also good in their play, attack is their sharpest and their scoring strength lies in the back division. Kandy SC will go all-out to throw a net over them, particularly to their brilliant centers. It will take all the efforts of the Police forwards to work something that can deceive the Kandy SC defence, which has solid tacklers. In today’s game the Police three-quarters should be at full strength. This will be another tightly contested game for both teams and most probably go down to the wire.
