St. Aloysius’ College, Galle trounced President’s College, Kotte by 10 wickets in the opening game of the Singer Schools U19 Division I, 2017/18 group B encounter which worked off yesterday at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

Electing to bat first the visiting President’s College crumbled under pressure as the lads from Galle came out with an impressive bowling performance led by Sri Lanka youth left-arm spinner Hareen Buddila who claimed 5 wickets to restrict the visitors to a disappointing 111 all out.

The hosts had over 50 overs remaining in the opening day came out in a positive frame of mind. Sri Lanka youth cap Ravindu Sanjana cracked an outstanding 124 off 178 balls, while Hareen Buddila chipped in with a handy half-ton as St. Aloysius’ College declared at 254/8 in 63.3 overs.

Having been failed in the 1st innings, President’s College needed a solid batting performance to save the game. However, left-arm spinner Hareen Buddila had other ideas as he continued taking wickets at ease. The visitors were bowled out once again to a below par 148 inside 50 overs.

Hareen Buddila was unplayable as he grabbed 8/59 in the second innings and finished with a match bag of 13/86 to guide his team to comprehensive 10 wicket win. YK
