Limited spectators allowed for LPL & Galle Tests

The health authorities have granted permission to allow limited spectators at the second edition of the Lanka Premier League 2021 cricket tournament, Minister of Sports Namal Rajapaksa announced yesterday. The LPL second edition is scheduled to be held from December 5 to 23 at two venues R. Premadasa International cricket stadium, Colombo, and Mahinda Rajapaksa International cricket stadium Hambantota.

The first round of the tournament, which will consist of 20 games will be played at the RPICS, Colombo before it moves into MRICS, Hambantota to proceed with the final round games.

The Sports Minister in his Twitter message stated "Cricket is nothing without the fans! As an avid cricket fan myself I am happy and grateful to announce that the Ministry of Health has approved limited crowds to attend the LPL 2021 after considering the strict guidelines put in place by the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

"This approval includes permission for limited crowds at the ongoing Test series as well,” Minister added.
