Chess National championships from Nov. 28

The Chess Federation of Sri Lanka ( CFSL) is expected to conduct Sri Lanka National ‘B’ and Women's National ‘B’ Chess Championships 2021 which is scheduled to be held from November 27-28 and December 3-5 at Public Library, Colombo under the health guidelines.

The IMs, FMs / WIMs, WFMs and players having more than 1700 ratings, girls with more than 1400 ratings are directly qualified to the respective event. In addition all players played in SL National ‘B’ Chess Championships in 2020 are also eligible for the event.

The reigning National Chess Champions, Ranindu Liyanage and Top Ranked Harshana Thilakaratne are qualified to play the National Championships 2021 finals directly while 12 players will be qualified and two more will be kept standby for the finals.

If any other player who wish to take part this tournament he may apply with giving his recent performance. If organizers will accept, they may play with a special entry fee to take part this major event.

Since Nethmi Fernando, the Women’s National Chess Champion has opted not to play, 14 players will be qualified from Women’s National ‘B’.

Cash awards will be awarded for the winners.

The eligible players can get their registration with sending their name, FIDE ID and the contact details to cfslchessevents@gmail.com on or before November 26 and late entries are not allowed. (D.R)
