The Kandy District Cricket Association limited over qualifying tournament “A” and “B” group matches were played at Wickremabahu College grounds Gampola.
The first game was between Akurana Cricket Club and Central Youth Cricket Club which game went in favour of Akurana Cricket Club. In this game Akurana CC won the toss and invited the Central Youth CC to take the first turn of the wicket and bowled them out for 108 runs in 30 overs in reply Akurana CC made 110 for 7 in 33.3 overs to pocket the game by three wickets. Central Youth CC 108 all-out in 30 0vers- Danushka Sanjeewa 24, Dinusha Ruwan23, Pubudu Senadeera 20, M.G.R.M. Shakir 3/02, S.H.M.Arkam 3/30, N.A.M. The second game was between Old Ranabima C.C.vs. Central Youth C.C., in this game Old Ranabima Cricket Club won by 18 runs(Parabola Method). Old Ranabima won the toss and fielded first and Central Youth CC were able to score 179/10 in 42 overs and in reply Old Ranabima C.C. scored 137 in 30 over’s. Central Youth C.C. 179 all out in 42 overs Binura Rajapaksha50 not out, Dinusha Ruwan 44. T.Monishan 3/14, Dilshan Priyadarahana 3/35, Jerusana Subramanium 2/35 Old Ranabima C.C. The third game was an “A” group match between Honest Star S.C. vs Tuskers C.C., which game was won by Honest Star SC by seven wickets. Tuskers SC taking the first turn were all out for 80 in 23.3 overs and Honest SC made the required runs,86 for 3 in 10.3 overs. Tuskers C.C. 80 all-out in 23.3overs, Rohana Kumar 17, Mohammed Isham 3/20, B. Raja3/22, Yogendran Kugalashan 2/08 Honest Star S.C. 86/3 in 10.3 overs - Mohammed Waseem 23, Mohammed Isham35, Mohammed Waseem 2/8.
On 2nd of this month , Central Youth Cricket Club will play Hewahetta Ekamuthu CC, and on 3rd Essex Cricket club will play Siyanco SportS Club and on 5thThunder Cricket club will play Lion Heart Cricket Club , all in all there are twenty matches in Group “A “and “B”.
The winning team would also end up with sizeable prize money and the KDCA trophy; same will be for the runner-up too. The special awards will be Best Batsman, Bowler, and Fielder and also the Best Team of the tournament and the Man of the Tournament.
