Buttler says patience was the key

After England’s 26-run victory over Sri Lanka in the World Cup T 20 match Player of the Match Jos Buttler who hit his maiden T 20 century said “Staying patient was key and keeping my head. I found it really tough early on but I managed to build a good partnership with Morgs [Eoin Morgan] and we could attack at the back end.

“We were just trying to get something going. We were finding the spin bowlers really tricky. At one stage we thought that 120 would be a good score but we managed to get going a little bit and work nicely in the partnership and each take the small side and trying to target that.

“I just use the same bat all the time, even in the nets. If I find one I like I just keeping going with it.

“The run out was probably my favourite part of the day! We were under pressure for a long part in the chase, especially knowing that Mo needed to bowl, so I was delighted to get that wicket.

“I was trying to guess where he would bowl that final ball. I was pretty calm but at that stage I’d batted for a long time and I was just hoping he would miss.”
