Left-hand, top-order batsman Charith Asalanka will lead the Sri Lanka Cricket Presidents X1 in the four-day practice game against West Indies scheduled to commence tomorrow (14) at SSC grounds.
The 24-year-old, who was the most successful Sri Lankan batter at the T20 World Cup, also led the teams at national under 19, and Sri Lanka is looking to find a place at the Test squad with his fine form.
Left-hand opener Kamil Mishara, right-arm medium paceman Chamika Gunasekasra, and leg-spinner Suminda Lakshan have been named for this team as they performed well in the Sri Lanka ‘A’ team during their four-day game against the Pakistan ‘A' team, played at Pallekele, recently.
Meanwhile, reliable sources close to the SLC said that selectors have already named the 22-member test squad and have to approve for the Sports Minister. Two senior players Angelo, Matthews and Dinesh Chandimal, are also included in this squad, which will be led by Dimuth Karunarante.
