Western Asian Youth Chess Tourney

Sri Lanka will field more than 300 players for the Western Asian Online Youth Chess Championships from September 18 to 20.

The event is conducted by the Asian Chess Federation and the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka (CFSL).

Events will be held in the age groups of Under-8, Under-10, Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18 Boys’ and Girls’.

Sri Lanka’s biggest hope at this event will be Oshini Gunawardena, the newest Under-10 Girls’ Online World champion.

The virtual opening ceremony will be held on September 18 at 11.00 a.m. on zoom with Namal Rajapaksa, Minister of Sports as the Chief Guest along with Sheikh Sultan Bin Khalifa Al Nehyan, President of the Asian Chess Federation.
