Udana’s all-round show inspires Knight Riders

Isuru Udana appeals

Former Sri Lanka all-rounder Isuru Udana starred with bat and ball as the Trinbago Knight Riders defeated St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots by four wickets in their Caribbean Premier League T20 match played at Basseterre on Monday.

Udana’s all-round heroics also helped the Knight Riders to secure a place in the first semi-final of the tournament against St. Lucia Kings.

The paceman first produced an economical spell of two for 28 from four overs to keep the opposition down to 147 for seven in 20 overs.

In fact, Udana was on a hat-trick after having dismissed Skipper Dwayne Bravo and Dominic Drakes in back-to-back deliveries in the penultimate over.

Knight Riders’ run chase was spearheaded by Man-of-the-Match Kieron Pollard but it was Udana who added the finishing touches by smashing an unbeaten 25 inclusive of three sixes.

Chief scores

St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots: 147/7 in 20 overs (Joshua Da Silva 50, Dwayne Bravo 25, Ali Khan 3/19, Isuru Udana 2/28)

Trinbago Knight Riders: 150/6 in 19 overs (Kieron Pollard 51, Isuru Udana 25 n.o, Fawad Ahmed 2/16). (Agencies)
