Sri Lanka’s Sampath Bandara will compete against India’s Vivek Chikara in the Men’s archery individual recurve elimination round of the 16th Paralympic Games in Tokyo, Japan today, commencing at 8.45 a.m. (Sri Lanka time).

Earlier, both competitors battled in the Men’s Individual Open Ranking round in August where Bandara had to be satisfied with 23rd place with 589 points while Chikara ended in 10th place with 609 points, which was his personal best.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Archery Coach Major General Rajeewa Wickramasinghe expressed his confidence that Bandara would produce a good performance in this event today.

“He couldn’t produce his best at the ranking round but he is expected to go forward in this event today, after having completed his preparations in Tokyo successfully,” Wickramasinghe told the Daily News yesterday.

Two other Sri Lankan Para Athletes, Maduranga Subasinghe (400m T47) and Kumudu Priyanka (long jump T46) will compete in their respective events today commencing at 6.00 a.m.
