South Africa undergoes first training session at SSC

The South Africa Cricket Team began their preparations for the upcoming limited overs series against Sri Lanka with a training session at the SSC Grounds in Maitland Place on Saturday.

The team led by Temba Bavuma arrived on the island on Thursday and the entire squad was subject to a PCR test.

The South Africa cricketers will stay within a bio-bubble during the entire series, which begins on September 2 with the first One Day International (ODI) at the R. Premadasa Stadium, the venue for all matches.

The second ODI will be played on September 4 and the third and final ODI will be played on September 7.

Meanwhile, the Twenty20 International series between the two teams will commence on September 10 followed by matches on September 12 and 14 respectively.

Temba Bavuma (Captain), Junior Dala, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, George Linde, Janneman Malan, Keshav Maharaj, Aiden Markram, Wiaan Mulder, Anrich Nortje, Andile Phehlukwayo, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen, Kyle Verreynne and Lizaad Williams.

South Africa Squad for T20I series:

Temba Bavuma (Captain), Quinton de Kock, Bjorn Fortuin, Beuran Hendricks, Reeza Hendricks, Heinrich Klaasen, George Linde, Keshav Maharaj, Sisanda Magala, Aiden Markram, David Miller, Wiaan Mulder, Lungi Ngidi, Anrich Nortje, Dwaine Pretorius, Kagiso Rabada, Tabraiz Shamsi, Rassie van der Dussen and Lizaad Williams.

The schedule:

1st ODI: September 2. 2nd ODI: September 4. 3rd ODI: September 7. 1st T20I: September 10. 2nd T20I: September 12. 3rd T20I: September 14.
