Kavindu Rashmika is a talented athlete of Lexicon International School, Kandy where he excelled in the 100m, 200m and 800m events while competing at the Junior Tarbat Athletic Championship.
He was awarded a scholarship from the school for his outstanding performances in the 400m event.
Thereafter, he was successful in winning the 800m event at the Junior National Athletics Championship where he established a new meet record of one minute and 59 seconds.
He was able to erase the existing record set by Dananjaya Bulugahapitiya of Berrewaerts College, Kandy in 2018.
In addition, Kavindu won the 400m and 800m races at the Kandy and Provincial Athletics Meet, which gave him more confidence to perform under the guidance of Coach Lalith Bandara.
At the Junior National Meet, Kavindu came close second to M. J. S. Jayasinghe of Walala Rathnayake MV and the third place was won by Ravindu Chirath of St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena.
