Sarah Storey made more history by securing Gold in the women’s C5 time trial at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics yesterday.
Her second title of the Games takes her overall Gold tally to 16 - the joint most for a British Paralympian, alongside swimmer Mike Kenny.
The 43-year-old Storey finished 92 seconds ahead of Great Britain teammate Crystal Lane-Wright who won Silver and Germany’s Kerstin Brachendorf who took Bronze.
Storey’s Paralympic medal haul currently sits at 27 - from events across swimming and cycling - nine more than Kenny.
Already Great Britain’s most decorated Paralympian, she has the chance to upgrade her title to most successful if she scores Gold in the road race final on Thursday.
Topping the podium would see her Gold tally rise to an uncontested 17.
Elsewhere, in Para cycling, it was glory for the United States as Oksana Masters reigned supreme in the women’s H4-5 time trial.
Masters was ahead of her nearest competitors by two minutes when she crossed the finishing line in a time of 45:40.05s.
China’s Sun Bianbian took Silver while the Netherlands’ Jennette Jansen collected Bronze.
It is the fourth Paralympic sport that Masters has collected a medal in.
