Middle order right hand batsman and left arm leg spinner and athlete Kariyawasam Gamage Tharindu Chamodya has brought honour and fame to his school Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya He joined this school when Nihal Padmasiri was at the helm of the school. He was born on 28th February 2003 and his first school was Roman Catholic School Pahathgama, Hanwella and the then Principal was Kithsiri Kotelawela and his first class teacher was Mrs. Mala.

When he was in Grade Five in 2013 he participated in the Inter House Sports Meet and he came first in 100 metres and in the Divisional Meet he came second and in the under 15 age group he came second in 100 and 200 metres and third in Long Jump in the Schools Sports Meet and in the Divisional Meet he was unsuccessful. But in the 4x100 event their school came second.

He commenced under 13 cricket under D. Lanka and in 2015 he scored 72 runs and took 17 wickets with one five wicket haul and in the following year he scored 162 runs with a fifty and bagged 23 scalps with one five wicket haul and he captained the team.

In the following two years there was no cricket at his school and to enhance his cricketing skills his mother Nilanthi Priyangani admitted her son to Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya in 2020 and at that time his father K. G. Priyantha had died He was selected to the First ELeven Cricket Team in 2020 and came under Miran Gunawardene and Kusalindu Hansajith and last year he represented them in Sri Lanka Schools under 19 Limited Overs Tournament and Siri Piyarathana reached the quarter finals and he claimed 16 wickets with one five wicket haul.

In addition he played for the Nondescripts Cricket Club Academy and toured Kolkata, India for an under 14 tournament in 2016 and they were the Runners Up and he carried away the Best All Rounder’s Prize and in 2017 he toured Bangalore, India and they were the Champions and he won the Best Bowler of the tournament award

In the same year he toured India and got the Best Players Award and in 2019 once again he toured Delhi, India and they won the Gotakan Tournament and he was the Best Fielder of the tournament and the coach was Aruna Nishantha and on those tours he got a fine exposure and this enabled him in to join Siri Piyarathana Vidyalaya and Principal Nihal Padmasiri and Master in Charge of Cricket M. Sham were always supportive of him.
