Ranindu, Susal share points after drawn game

Sri Lanka’s national champion Ranindu Liyanage and his teammate Susal de Silva figured in a draw after their Asian Zonal Hybrid Chess Championship second-round clash ended in a draw yesterday.

The pair had to be satisfied with 0.5 points and a total of 1.5 points each following their first-round victories of the tournament.

Meanwhile, Sri Lanka’s third competitor Buddhika Amarasinghe won his game against Mohammed Harris Rizwan of Pakistan and obtained one point.

After losing his first-round game on the previous day, Amarasinghe came back strongly to record his first win in the second-round.

Two Grandmasters Enamul Hussain and Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh are on top after winning both their games.

A total of 39 players from Bangladesh, Nepal,

Pakistan, Maldives and Sri Lanka are participating in this event.

The three Sri Lankan players are competing from the Headquarters of the Chess Federation of Sri Lanka in Gangodawila, Nugegoda. (D.R)
