Pramodi Madushani outstanding volleyball and carrom player

Volleyball, carrom and Beach Volleyball player Dandeniya Arachchige Pramodi Madushani has brought honour and glory for her Alma Mater Vijayaba National School, Hungama, University of Sri Jayawardenapura, Brandix Intimate Apparels Welisara and Minuwangoda, and her present working place Dialog Axiata. She was born on 17th October 1992 and hails from Hungama and her first school was Vijayaba National School and she was admitted over there in 1998 when M Rathnayake was at the helm of the school and her first class teacher was Mrs. Dilani.

Initially she was not much interested in sports activities from Grade One to Seven but her parents D. A. Jayasinghe and W. A. Kanthilatha encouraged Pramodi to do at least one sport and they handed over their daughter to Master in Charge of Volleyball and Coach oft the school Tharaka Rathnaweera in 2004 and in the same year she was selected to her house team and in the Inter House Volleyball Tournament their house emerged champions. With these performances under her belt she was selected to the school under 13 team and they came second in the Divisional and Zonal and could not come up to expectations at the Provincial Tournament

In the following year after clinching the Lower Tournaments they were adjudged All Island under 15 DSI Winners in 2006 and in 2007 they were the Runners up in the DSI Tournament and in the same year they were the All Island National Schools Runners Up. In 2008 they were the Youth Beach Volleyball Champions and her partner was Shanika Mihirani and Pramodi was the captain of the team. She was selected for the Tour of Singapore and it was cancelled at the eleventh hour.

They became second in the All Island Schools Tournament in 2007 and in 2008. They became second in the under 19 National Sports Festival and came third in 2009 All Island Schools Tournament and they were the Runners Up and in 2010 Dayata Kirula under 19 Tournament they came second and at the Youth Services Rupavahini Open Tournament they were the second Runners Up and Pramodi captained the team.

In 2013 she was selected to the Sri Jayawardenapura University and played for them for four successive years and captained in 2015 and she was adjudged as the Best Player for four consecutive years and represented the All Island Universities Team.

She was selected to the Combined Universities in 2013 Youth Services Tournament and they could not come up to expectations and in 2014 she represented the National Olympic Academy and only two members were included in the team from Sri Lanka. She toured Malaysia with the Combined Universities Team in 2015 for the 10th UIFF International Sports Festival at University of MARA and Sri Lanka lasses clinched the Trophy. She was adjudged as the Best Player continuously from 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 and awarded University Colours. In addition she represented the University Team in Carrom and participated for the Inter University Tournaments in 2015 and 2016 and awarded with Carrom Colours along with UCG Colours.

After Graduating she joined the Ernst and Young Company and played for the Inter Volleyball Tournaments and she became as the Best Player and in Carrom and along with Kasari Lakshika she played for the Beach Volleyball team in 2019 National Youth All Island Beach Volleybal Tournament and they emerged second Runners Up and in 2017 she represented the Inter Club Tournament in Maldives and seven countries participated and she was the only player from Sri Lanka.
