Nineteen year old Kavishka Dilhara Tennakoon,a student of Vidyartha College,Kandy is a talented cricketer and a soccer player. He had his early education from Grade one to Grade Eight at the Sarasavi Uyana Vidyalaya, Peradeniya and joined Vidyartha College to improve his studies as well as sports

Kavishka started his cricket career at the age of 12 years under the cricket coach, Dinuka Wijewardena and he played as a wicket-keeper batsman from under 13 to under 19 levels.At the start he did not show any outstanding performance but at Under 17 level he kept his place in the Cricket team due to his wicket keeping skills. When he played at Under 13 level he took ten victims behind the stumps with seven catches and three stumpings but at Under 17 Level he took 27 victims behind the stumps with 22 catches and 25 stumpings.

As a player in the Under 17 level Kavishka improved his batting to score 240 runs in seven tournament matches with his highest score being 76 runs against Kingswood College,Kandy under the coaching of Champika Siriwardena. At under 17 level he played as a right arm medium pace bowler withour success but in the year 2019 he was selected to the First Eleven team and he started his wicket keeping very well to claim 43 victims with 32 catches and five stumpings. As an opening batsman he scored 270 runs in 13 matches, his highest being scoring 53 against Sri Devananda Vidyalaya,Ambalangoda. As a second year player in the first season he scored 490 runs in 14 matches, his highest being 63 runs against Sri Jayawardenapura Vidyalaya and he took 21 catches and eight stumpings behind the stumps. As a third year player in 2020, Kavishka showed much improvement in both batting and wicket keeping to score 570 runs highest being 34 runs against St.Mary’s Kegalle and 41 victims with 29 catches and 13 stumpings.As a fourth year player he played under the coaching of Senaka Dissanayake and played as the vice Captain of the team.

He is also a Soccer player who played for Soccer Clubs in Kandy as a Goal Keeper.

He started his soccer career in 2015 under the coaching of R.Nimal a former Army player and played for Golden Wings under the captaincy of Dulaj Weerasuriya. practiced at Dangolla Football grounds when he was not involved in Cricket. He is thankful to his Cricket Coaches as well as his soccer coach for encouraging him.
