Nortje and Ismail clean up at CSA Awards

Seam bowlers Anrich Nortje and Shabnim Ismail took out the top gongs at Cricket South Africa’s (CSA’s) awards evening on Monday.

Nortje and Ismail were crowned South Africa’s Men’s and Women’s Cricketer of the Year in their respective categories at the virtual event.

Ismail cleaned up at the awards night, also taking out Women’s T20I Cricketer of the Year and South Africa Women’s Player of the Year.

Having previously won South Africa Women's Cricketer of the Year in 2015, Ismail is just the third player to have earned the prize multiple times after Marizanne Kapp (2013 and 2014) and Dane van Niekerk (2016, 2018, 2019).

Nortje picked up four awards, being crowned Test Cricketer of the Year, South Africa Fans’ Player of the Year and sharing South Africa Men’s Player of the Year with batter Aiden Markram.

Wrist-spinner Tabraiz Shamsi and batter Rassie van der Dussen were crowned the Men’s T20I and ODI Cricketers of the Year respectively while Lizelle Lee won the Women’s ODI Cricketer of the Year. (ICC)
