Muhandiram was a talented cricketer from Mahamaya

Dhanushika Muhandiram is a former student of Mahamaya Girls’ School, Kandy and was a former cricketer and Cadet Sergeant in the School Western Band.

She started her cricket career in 2005 and later became the Captain of the team in 2012. Dhanushika ended her career in 2014.

She played as a right-hand batter and a right-arm medium pace bowler. She represented the school team in 2008 at the Inter-District Cricket Tournament at the age of 12 and captured three wickets for 35 against Kegalle District.

In 2009, she scored 35 runs with three sixes and three fours against Wattegama Maha Vidyalaya and was a member of the Mahamaya Cricket Team, which emerged Inter-Schools champions in 2010.

In 2011 and 2012, she joined the Kandy Cricket and Athletic Academy and played a leading role as an All-rounder to score 100 runs and claim 15 wickets at the Inter-Academy Cricket Tournament.

In 2014, Dhanushika claimed three wickets for

30 runs in a tournament held at Maharagama and she was selected to the Sri Lanka Junior Cricket Pool.

After leaving school, she volunteered to assist in the coaching of the Kandy Cricket and Athletic Academy from 2014 onwards and was also a sports trainer at Mahamaya from 2020.

Dhanushika is currently the Physical Training Instructor (PTI) of Mahamaya.
