Movin Pahasara de Silva pride of Piliyandala Central

Second eleven cricket captain, first eleven third year player and all rounder and coloursman, kabaddi player and athlete Movin Pahasara de Silva has brought honour and fame to his Alma Mater Piliyandala Central College. Movin was born on 21st June 2002 and entered Somaweera Chandrasiri Vidyalaya, Piliyandala for the Grade One in 2008 when Noel Fernando was at the helm of the school and when Movin was at this school there was no sports activities.

In 2013 he was admitted to the Grade Six of Piliyandala Central College when Darshana Udawatte was the Principal and his class teacher was Mrs. Chintha Abeywickrama. During his smaller days he played soft ball cricket with his neighboring friends and as he was interested in cricket his parents Prasad de Silva and Manjula Deepani admitted their son to the School Cricket Academy in 2013 and he came under Bimal Amarasinghe and Vinosh Perera and in 2014 too he attended practices at the Academy.

Movin who bats right hand and bowls right arm medium pace is a safe fielder and a top order batsman attended practices in the under 13 age group in 2015 and once again he came under Bimal and Vinosh respectively and in the same year he was appointed as the Division Three Captain and in his first year itself he scored 210 runs with three fifties and captured 45 wickets with four five wicket hauls and the best being eight for seven versus DS Senanayake Vidyalaya, Colombo and it was the Best Performance in that year.

Then in 2018/19 season he attended first eleven cricket practices and in the following year he was selected to the team and scored 220 runs with a fifty and bagged 22 wickets and played for the Big Match and the Limited Overs Match against their arch rivals Taxila Central College Horana and in the mean time he was appointed as the second eleven cricket captain and played in three matches and scored 94 runs and took eight scalps. Same year he played for the Inter Centralians Cricket Tournament and Piliyandala Central emerged Champions.

He played in the just concluded under 19 Inter School Limited Overs Cricket Tournament conducted by Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Association and scored 126 runs in six outings and claimed 11 wickets and his coach is former Cambrian Cricketer Eranga Gunarathne.

He represented the school Kabaddi Team for two years in 2016 and 2017 and in athletics he participated in the School Athletic Sports Meet and swept the board in the under 19 age group in 800, 1000 and 5000 metre events. In addition he followed Life Saving Programmes in Swimming in Free Style in the years of 2013, 2014 and 2015.
